Basic Information
In this article we will review Hongo Cura Ointment and Spray. It is sold as a treatment for jock itch, athlete’s foot and ringworm. It claims to clear away the infection that causes athlete’s foot as well as preventing it from recurring when used daily. There is both an ointment and spray form to this treatment.
Formula
Ointment active ingredients:
- zinc undecylenate
- undecylenic acid
Spray active ingredient:
- undecylenic acid
Both the active ingredients in Hongo Cura are classified as antifungals. The difference being that zinc undecylenate keeps infection causing fungi from growing while undecylenic acid kills fungus that has already formed. Our research could not determine if this treatment contains an effective dose of either ingredient.
Directions
This product recommends that the areas that are affected should be cleaned and dried well prior to use. The ointment should then be applied to the areas in a thin coating once in the morning and again in the evening. Unless otherwise directed by a physician. It is also suggested that attention be paid especially between the toes. This product is to be used everyday for 4 weeks when treating athlete’s foot or ringworm, and 2 weeks for jock itch.
Price
Hongo Cura can be purchased both in store and online through a number of retailers. The spray version can cost anywhere between $4.88 and $12.95 for a 2 ounce bottle. The ointment form also has a wide range in prices from $3.98 to as high as $17.27 for a 28 gram tube. Shipping costs can be extra when ordering online.
What to Expect
I have struggled with Athlete’s Foot for many years and have tried a number of treatments. I found Hongo Cura to be relatively effective and it seemed to work pretty quickly, with preliminary results appearing within days. The consistency of the ointment is smooth and thick, making it stay on my skin well, but I found that it was a bit greasy for my tastes, making it uncomfortable to use in the morning, with a full day head of me. The spray was much more convenient to use than the cream, but it was difficult to control the desired amount of coverage.
Keep an Eye Out
When using this or any product containing undecylenic acid or zinc undecylenate, it is possible to experience burning or irritation of the skin. It is also possible to have an allergic reaction although this is rare. If any of these symptoms worsen or persist, use of this product should be stopped and a doctor consulted as Soon as possible.
Manufacturer’s Commitment
Although most retailers offer a return or refund policy, we were unable to discover a manufacturer’s guarantee. There were very few customer reviews available online, how ever most were positive and reported fast acting relief after having used this treatment.
The Bottom Line
Hongo Caura is a treatment which contains widely used antifungal agents, and can be purchased at a reasonable price. However, the lack of a satisfaction guarantee from the manufacturer did bring up concerns as well as the the very small number of reviews by customers, which left us wondering how effective it actually was.
